About
Melanie Ann Philp
Hello, my name is Melanie.
I live in Cornwall and am currently living and working in Gweek and surrounding areas.
I am passionate about counselling and believe in our innate ability to heal in the right conditions. It is very important to me to provide a safe and confidential space for clients to be able to share honestly and openly. I enable clients to feel listened to in a caring and non-judgemental way, so they can make changes in their lives and flourish as individuals. I enjoy working with a wide variety of people and have worked in a range of settings with children, adolescents and adults. I have experience working in the NHS, medical based practice, healthcare agencies and private practice.
My approach is to work with clients in a respectful, understanding and accepting manner, helping people to discover their uniqueness and the vision and wisdom that may have been lost due to life’s challenging situations. In my role, I will support clients, respect their views and help people to find insight and understanding into their problems.
My particular emphasis is to work with individuals, couples and families to find their own unique strengths and to allow individuals resilience's to emerge so they can be used as a support in times of difficulty for the rest of their lives.

I am also a qualified Reiki Practitioner and Spiritual Healer, with 15+ years’ experience of practice. As a therapist, I adhere to the BACP framework of ethical practice.
As we are all individuals with our own personalities and have our own difficult situations to face, I use counselling strategies that best fit a client’s personal circumstances and therapy is always tailored to meet their intrinsic needs. This may include my training modalities such as CBT, Mindfulness, Guided Visualisations, Meditation, Art Therapy, Gestalt Techniques and the opportunity to go outside to experience therapy in nature with one of my ‘Walk and Talks’, using our natural world to assist in healing.
I can also use aspects of my other training and interest of Reiki and Spiritual Healing if this is part of the unique therapy experience you are seeking for your journey.
